Spycraft: Project Duct Tape
Season One: The Case of the Missing Opera Singer
Jason Argosy is sitting at his desk, at the Orion Securities offices. He has spent most of the last week and the entire weekend – up until about half an hour ago – in a series of meeting with the administrative staff of one of the Secret Service’s training facilities. After dealing with beauricrats for the last few days, the pile of paperwork in his ‘IN’ basket looks almost appealing. A uniformed messanger appears at his door.
“Mr. Indigo?” the messanger studies his clipboard.
“Yes?”
“I’ve a document for you. Please sign here.” He holds out a data-pad-clip-board and indicates the rectangular box in the center of the screen with the attached plastic stylus. Jason signs ‘Agent Indigo’ with a flourish and accepts the manila folder from the messanger.
“Have a nice day.”
“The same to you.” He waits until the messanger has left, closes the office door and opens the envelope.
Conrad S. Hauser sits in his living room, soft music playing in the background as he reads the top paper in a stack of essays. He starts briefly when the doorbell rings and looks throught the peep-hole before opening it to the liveried messanger.
“I’m looking for a {pause as a clipboard is consulted} Mr. Crimson.”
“That would be me.”
“Could you sign here please, I’ve got a package for you, Sir.”
He signs ‘Agent Crimson’ in the small space next to his name and address and then accepts a small padded envelope from the messanger.
“Thank you.”
“Have a good evening.”
Spirit is writing code furiously, cigarette hanging out of one corner of his mouth. I’m hungry, he thinks and he glances at the clock, realizes that he hasn’t eaten since breakfast, is smoking the last cigarette in the house, and was supposed to meet Danielle for dinner and a movie almost an hour ago. He curses and jumps to his feat, graps his keys and is heading for the door when the phone rings.
“Hello.”
“Jameson, I’ve got another job for you.” He recognizes the dulcet tones of FBI Agent Erica Grey.
“This really isn’t a good time.”
“There’s a car outside of your building now, the driver has a note for you.”
“This is a really bad time… {he hears the distinctive click of the phone on the other end being set down}
You have just received a message from Agent Green of the DEA, the message has been stamped URGENT in red ink. Agent’s Crimson and Indigo have not worked with Agent Green before, but he has a reputation throughout the Agency for getting things done and being unconventional – even for Alpha Beta. Jameson’s note has a hand-written message from Agnet Grey informing him that he’d better be on his best behaviour and that she’ll be watching him. The message informs you that you’ll be required to attend a task force organizational meeting in Agent Green’s San Fransisco office at 0800 Monday morning (it is about 1900 Sunday evening when you receive the message).
[OOC: Welcome to Project Duct tape… please check in with your first actions. If you are using a skill or making an attack roll, please include all pertanint modifiers in your post and describe under which conditions you will spend an action die. For Example: Agent Green uses his Sense Motive skill to see if Jameson is lying about his reason for being late; he will spend an action die if he misses the DC by more than 5 or in order to confirm a critical success; he will spend no more than two action die on this check. In this case, if he had not already posted Bluff instructions for Jameson, I would give Raurth Snowfang time to respond and then roll the opposed check and post the results, listing any change in the number of Raurth Snowfang’s action die. Okay? Questions?]
