I didn't realise that it had received a cinema release but turns out it did in three IMAX screens in the US.

There was also some discussion about a similar limited theatrical release in Canada, but I don't believe that happened.

I would have been perfectly fine if Milana Vayntrub had a bigger role in the movie...I've enjoyed her work since back when she was Lily Adams, the AT&T girl. And she was perfectly cast as a Russian cosmonaut.

Its a sci fi "lite", it definately just waltzes through the science to get to the emotional core of the story, which is fine because the emotional core was wonderful. Decent space effects to delight, wonderful characters, deep connection, solid plot. Yeah very well put together movie.

Like accelerating to near-light speed without time -dilation effects worth mentioning? Or  decelerating from the interstellar speed?

What doesn't take a science degree is the question SPOILER: what does Grace eat after the allotted time of his one-way trip is up? (Soilent green?)
