Pronunciation of Handles

"Ack-might" not Ass-ah-might. There's only one "i" so I'm not sure where the mispronunciation comes from, but I get it a lot.

Beta Ray...

Beh-tah Ra (long "a" sound, like "day")

Of course, what people actually call me... well Eric's grandma wouldn't like it.

Oh and Green Knight, awesome pic of the Joes... Not much of a Joe's fan, but I really love Michael Golden's artwork.

The TIJ sound is kinda non excistant in the English language...

Anyway that's the Dutch pronounciation of the Greek text. The English pronounciation will be different, and the real pronounciation is probably lost to history...so it doesn't really matter anyway :p[/QUOTE]

Argh! It's IJ again! As if it wasn't bad enough on the MECCG list years ago.

Mine: just break it up into to three parts - wel - ver - in, should be obvious then.

Maldur recently schooled me in the pronucniation of my name, which is Dutch for damage. I also belive I am incapable of pronouncing it properly. It is supposed to be "schg-ai-duh" with a schwa and a g in the first part, a longish "A" sound and duh at the end. I just say "ska-day." Not Sharde, like the singer who spells her name Sade. :)
