The DM for a game I play in has the following question:
Does the Protection from Evil spell block out "called" creatures. The specific text is that it blocks out "summoned & conjured" creatures.
A house rule that I am leaning towards is that the spell blocks any "summoned" creatures and blocks "called" creatures who are Outsiders, but only if the spell is cast on the Material Plane. In other words, Protect from Evil would be less powerful on any other plane and would not block attacks. Part of my reasoning is that a Magic Circle, which is a pumped up Protection spell, does create a physical barrier to "called" creatures when used in conjunction with Lesser Planar Binding spells.
Whatcha think?
