Protect Your... Weapon

I've looked through MIC, A&EG, Magic of Faerun and Google (for what that's worth anymore with all the irrelevant 'hits' on searches these days).

I'm looking for a way to protect a weapon from rust and acid damage - Everbright seems to be the only way but I thought I remembered seeing a cheaper option once upon a time that protected against acid/rust but without the silly blinding effect (at low levels it is decent, but expensive, and at higher levels the DC is too low to really be a viable option to waste your turn using IMO. Plus it affects allies as well as foes).

Does anyone know of another way to protect a metal weapon from acid and rust?

Another question along the same lines is would a weapon made from deep crystal be immune to acid and rusting? It says deep crystal is considered metal for armour but as a weapon well, crystal can't rust as far as I know, and would crystal be considered close enough to glass to be immune to acid?

Everbright will make your equipment immune... And anything that isn't metal should do the trick. In your case crystal would work... And as most games don't really believe in Sunder you should be fine with it ;).

You could try to put a protective cover over your weapon that is lubricated with a viscous oil.

The following are RAW for armor only, but perhaps your DM would be kind.

Dungeonscape p.39
Durable Armor property, +500gp. Immune to special attacks that cause rust.

Magic Item Compendium p.9
Blueshine Armor property, +1500gp. Immune to Acid Damage and Rusting effects.
