Protection from Energy and equipment

Okay, so if I'm battling a fighter who has protection from acid in a pool of acid, neither he nor his equipment are damaged as long as his spell lasts.

What if I disarm him? Is his weapon now subject to the acid?

What about gear he picks up after the spell is cast? Is it now protected?

Everything that leaves him is subject to that acid (or whatever elemental damage). Apply Hardness and HP and roll damage. Swords, Shield and Armor are more or less the only items with a chance to survive if they are being picked up again quite fast.
Everything the protected creature picks up is instantly protected as well.
