Our "method" - spoiler for fellow players
[sblock]If your character's prime stat in Strength, Intelligence, or Wisdom is 15 or above,
And you are playing in a qualifying class,
You then get a 10% chance of psionic potential.
If you succeed in this roll (91-100 on a percentile), you then get to roll for potential powers every level. The percent chance for this is dictated by a "Power" roll at creation. This percentage is subsequently multiplied by the number of previous levels you have NOT gained a psionic power.
If you do gain a power, you continue rolling (like exploding damage dice) until you no longer qualify for more (missed a roll). However, after your first successful roll, the percent chance falls to normal (it is no longer multiplied by multiple class levels)
Your "Power" roll is anywhere from 5% - 13% depending on how well you initially rolled at generation.
For example,
If the PC had a 5% Power roll (the poorest), they would have a 5% of obtaining a psionic power at 1st level. If they failed to do so, they would have a 10% chance at 2nd level (2*5). If at 2nd level they qualified for a power, then they immediately roll for another power at a 5% chance (the previous number of levels they had not qualified falls to 1).
Power Generation:
is random and initially based on Level 1 powers. The roll is percentile and refers to a table of Level 1 powers. Once the PC has qualified for a Level 1 power, their next power may be a Level 2 power. After a Level 2 power is obtained, a Level 3 power may be qualified for and so on. Which level the power will be is also determined randomly (once more than one Level is applicable).
All rolls are percentile-based.
Telepathy is gained on a stepped system and originally obtained in limited form once a PC receives their first power.
Offensive and Defensive Modes are obtained depending on the number of power points and powers a PC has obtained. Their generation is also random. ( I believe, this is part of the system I am less sure on)[/sblock]
