Psionics Help - Munchkin-size me...

You can pick and chose which racial substitution levels you want.

For example you don't need to take the 1st level changling wizard racial substitution level (you can choose the standard wizard level if desired) but pick up one of the later levels when the time arrives.

Unfortunately, the time won't ever arrive. The character's primary function is Psion; I'm going to go Cerebremancer 10 and then Psion or prestige class that advances it. I'll never be picking up another Wizard level.

The 5th level one is really good - morphic familiar (sweet).
I'm not going to have a familiar though: I'm taking the Abrupt Jaunt ACF, and besides, I'll have a psicrystal. With only one level of Wizard, a familiar is going to be about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. The only way I'd pick up a familiar (via feats) would be if the DM agreed to me bonding my psicrystal to be a familiar as well... I think I could probably swing persuade her, but she'd regret it if she did ;)

Also the racial substitution levels give you 2 more skill points than a standard wizard and add, disguise and sleight of hand to your class skill list.
Worthy class features, to be sure, but pretty redundant for a character dedicated to the proposition of turning into terrifying supernatural beasties, ripping people's heads off and doing dreadful things down the holes ;) I reckon disguise self and alter self will do for those rare occasions when subtlety is required :D

If this was a proper arcane build though, I'd be all over it like a rash.

egoist substitution level has similar benefits (extra skill points and class skills)
Again, if I were going for a sneaky character this would be golden. Where were you when I posted my "Cheese me a Changeling" thread?! Awsome stuff, this :)

Mutable body (well need shapechanger subtype which the race meets)
If the DM were to allow that to apply to powers as well (I know: psionics/magic transparency and all that, but it's not a given that I'd get away with it) then this feat would indeed make my winsauce Extra Chunky. However, I'd be giving up the Outsider type in order to take it. It's good - really good - but I don't think it's that good. Outsiders present all kinds of horrible possibilities, which is - I suspect - why they're not on the standard list of things you can change into with Metamorphosis.

Persona Immersion
Again, for a sneaky character this would be the Parmesan sprinkled on my Stilton pie, but I wasn't planning on going that way. My default approach to someone attempting to use thought-reading powers on me won't be "to give them misleading information", it'll be "to suck their eyeballs out with a straw".

Racial Emulation
If there's a race out there that is both a Humanoid AND an Outsider, consider me to have bought this idea: lock, stock, barrel and the wagon it was delivered in. However... I don't think there is such a thing outside of homebrew, as both types are types and not subtypes. Alternatively, tell me I'm wrong for wanting to have the Outsider type when I get Metamorphosis ;)

Also use the Expanded Knowledge feat repeatedly - to gain extra powers known {from any disciple} (especially if you get a feat per level as a house rule).
Oh, I will. I'll probably research a lot as well though.

For all my cavailing, I'm truly grateful for your efforts - thank you :)

And if anyone has any ideas as to how to best abuse a psicrystal, I'm all ears for that, too. It's going to have a feat per level too... although given that I'm going to be advancing as a Cerebremancer rather than a Psion, I'm starting to wonder if it's worth the trouble. I guess Improved Psicrystal will make it so :)

EDIT: Tried to give irdeggman XP for his help, but the site is telling me I've given him XP recently and so can't... despite the fact that he's not appearing in my "XP given" list. Anyone else experiencing problems with this?
