[PSIONICS] Monk classing into Soulknife...

In the campaign I am running, one of the characters began as a monk, took levels in psychic warrior, and has finally classed into the PrC Soulknife. One of the Soulknife powers is to create an ectoplasmic "mindblade" which can be used as a weapon. My question - could this be considered to be on the monk weapon list (as it is an extension of himself) and thus use the monk's unarmed attack bonuses?

The Soul Knife text says to treat the mind-blade as a short sword in all ways except visually (and later on as a longsword), so I'd argue that it couldn't be used with a monk's unarmed attack bonus.

But there's a Feat in one of the first 3e Dragon Magazines that lets a monk use a specific light weapon as a monk weapon. Sorry, don't recall the issue number.

Unorthodox Flurry, from Dragon #279. Requirements: Monk 6+. Benefit: You may use one light weapon of choice as if you were unarmed, granting you your unarmed base attack, number of attacks per round, and the ability to make a flurry of blows.

Anyway, you wouldn't WANT to use your unarmed combat bonus, since you couldn't use the BAB increases from Soulknife or Psychic Warrior. See the FAQ.

True, but you can still flurry with it. :D
