the gods probably don't fear anything anymore.
(except maybe the return of the titans if such a thing were possible).

RR2 explains that a fairly large percentage of people who have suffered the Slarecian Language Virus get well after a few weeks... but when they recover, they now have the potential for psionic powers. The book suggests that this was probably not the intent of the virus, and is in fact a side effect caused by a mutation in the virus. (Or it may all be part of a plot to return the Slarecians to the world by increasing the psionic energy levels there.... )

Okay maybe fear was the wrong word but probably mistrust psionics. In any case I doubt Belsameth or Drendari have any special love of psionics, consider Belsameth lost two kids (one survived) and Drendari was a lab rat for the Slacerians and their crew. I'm willing to admit, Belsameth could have cared less about her kids, but I'm sure she would take as a personal insult since she IS their mother.

For the Half Orc gaining Psionic powers the Slareician Language Virus is probably the way to go. Since it mutated many people who become infected have started manifesting Psionic powers. This means you can run the Half Orc through all the confusion that comes with being Psionic.

And Nightfall when you said the gods fear the Slaericians you were right. It took the combined efforts of the Gods and the Titans to defeat them. And even then they didn't do it before they had wrenched the secrets of shadow magic out of Drendari. IF the Slaericians were to return in force it is not definite that the Gods could defeat them. And even if the Gods triumphed the distraaaction might be all that the Titan's needed to return.

Thanks for explaining that Jeff. I do think you're right. This is probably more true now SINCE spell resistance wouldn't be a factor the gods being able to overcome a good number of them. Plus they'd have to divert followers and THAT would certainly allow the servitors of the Titans to find a way to bring back their masters.

As far as how the gods perceive psionics:

Take a look at the Divine & the Defeated. There is no Power Resistance anywhere for any of the gods.

We had a chance to add a sidebar noting that the gods get it when we were discussing psionics in RRII.

We did not.

Yes, the gods do fear it, because it is beyond their ken. Do they fear it as much these days?

Not so much - but they are hardly unconcerned about the whole thing, either. ;)

Thanks for all of the ideas/clarifications. I'm holding out for my copy of RRII because I had a few things in it, but it is really tough waiting because it is such a great product (based on my repeated quick skimmings in the game shop).

The psychic warrior is travelling with a Chardunni cleric of all things, so I really need to sit down and think about how everything is going to fit together.

I'll keep you updated (our next game is Monday).

Keep the ideas/suggestions coming!
