What makes you think I didn't preorder? ;)
I figured that while I was posting the link (that's the pic you were referring to, right?), that I would inform people who haven't pre-ordered yet.

Peace and smiles :)

I downloaded but (barely) skimmed it.

It doesn't look like I'll ever bother reading it, nor will I ever read that section in the hardcover. I don't care about the world around Ptolus (as I'll be inserting it in my FR game).

Hi,

I'm enjoying reading it, but this is the bit of Ptolus that I will get the least use out of -- I'm using Ptolus as the High City half of Zazesspur in Tethyr in the Forgotten Realms. Originally I set The Banewarrens in Zazesspur and never intended to buy or preorder Ptolus. The previews etc have successfully sucked me in and now I have abandoned the city map in Lands of Intrigue and downloaded Ed Bourelle's deluxe PDF map of Ptolus. I'm looking forward to the next PDF which covers the Organizations since I'm using both the Delver's Guild and the Inverted Pyramid in my game.

Cheers

I'll probably wait until next may for the next Malhavok sale and get Complete book of Eldritch Might and as many Ptolus supplements as my monthly budget supports.

Our group placed Ptolus in a different world as well, in our case Greyhawk 10,000 years after the normal setting. Ptolus is on the shores of a big, big lake :)

Lothian is the decrepit empire big god but there is a lot of worship of old gods such as St. Cuthbert, etc.

I might get Praemal just for the world stories, history overview, and cosmologies. I like reading that kind of stuff even if I don't use it in a game.

The problem, IMO, was not so much that it wasn't suitable for players to read, but that sections that the players could read weren't written so they could. I might want to copy a section of the magical substances for a mage with a knowledge (arcana) 50, but would have to remove part of the section that's adventure specific.

??? And the problem is? This isn't hard to accomplish.

I use the Complete Book of Eldritch Might a lot in my games -- highly recommended. There was a Malhavoc sale about a week ago -- could still be on; I'm not sure.

I'm using Torm for Lothian and the Order of the Golden Lion replaces the Order of the Dawn. It's worked out pretty well so far.

Cheers

Don't like the whole cut off from the planes bit.

Seems a bit odd for one of Malhavoc's products as he has the Nexus in Book of Eldritch Might III and his book of planes.

Also seems like Midnight or Ravenloft in that you really shouldn't be calling monsters to help fight for you.

Have t osee how this is reflected in other parts of the game though.

Makes perfect sense for it as a campaign world but not what I'm looking for in terms of planart prisons.

i'm not quite sure of what to make of this either yet. Even though it is 1-way, it does seem like it might hamper a lot of higher level adventures. Maybe not, i haven't seen the hardback yet.

I have a player who wants to be a binder from ToM, and i was wondering how THAT aspect would be influenced in Ptolus. Technically, would said entity be allowed to arrive and depart? I might just handwave it anyway.

Let's remind everyone that summoning is fine. Just a few calling spells, such as Planar Ally, would have to be used with extra caution.

Also, there's "cut off" and "cut off". With Praemal, you still have pocket planes such as the Jewels of Parnaith. I don't need more than that and the ethereal, personally, unless I wanted my campaign to focus on a visit in hell and back, which you can just skip with Jabel Shammar, Goth Gulgamel and the Necropolis around.
