Dont know the game, so I cant say. If it means I like to run solo game while my party waits like matrix user in shadowrun, then no.
Yep.
More something like the warden or sage in middle-earth 5e.
And I haven't glanced at that yet. ;)

I have to admit ... somewhat surprised that Fighter is the runaway leader!
It's generally been the most popular class, even held on when it was Tier 5. It's the most relateable concept, the archetype most prevalent in genre, and you're asking in the context of ignoring the 'numbers.'

I'm surprised it's not leading by more. ;)

I've always liked running wizards, so that was my vote in the poll. That said, my second choice is cleric. 5E has done a great job with the class. Clerics can support the party well, while having lots of other fun stuff to do.

Argh! Why do you make me choose lowkey13!

Right now, since it is August, and a Tuesday, I will say Barbarian. I want to try a dual wielder or polearm user. However, I am also interested to see what new sub-classes for it are coming in the Fall, since Totem seems played out, and I have already dabbled with Berserker.

So, like I said, not really. IIRC you are yourself a big fan of 4e Warlord, so to put it like this, I was a huge fan of the ''lazylord'' build, or the taxi-bard. That's my kind of support character. In term of 5e I guess that would be a lore bard with a different flavour.

Sorry, latched onto the 'not contributing in combat/dominating out of combat' misperception. Obviously, a support character like a 'lazy' Warlord, Pacifist Cleric, or Lore Bard that willfully eschews offensive spells still contributes in combat.

Probably because I started in 3.0 days. But cleric just always appealed to me. Cast spells almost as strong as a wizard while being able to wade into combat and smash things or take a hit? Who wouldn't pick this?

Nowadays divine metamagic persistent spells is gone, but it is still a solid character class. I wish some of the domains felt a little more impactful.

I really, really want to play a Ranger. It's hands down my favorite class concept, but nothing about how the class is designed in 5E appeals to me. PHB or UA version, although the UA version is closer. I'm hoping we get a rather extensive rewrite in the guide this fall.
