Putting "Vorpal" on a bow

What about a vorpal bludgeoning weapon? I'm thinking "Skullcrushing".

In 1E, we ran up against an evil cleric with a 'Mace of Mashing'...

Hey doc, just wanted to let you know I remembered where the uncommon magical ranged weapons table is in case you ever need it.
The 'uncommon weapons' table (table 7-12 in the DMG) contains both melee and ranged weapons, you see.

Man, being able to chuck vorpal bananas would be awesome.

Anyways, vorpal on a bow is a bit much -- he's getting 5+ shots per round at pretty high accuaracy to begin with (I'm guess the party is high level, if they're getting things like vorpal weapons); in theory, he'd get an instant-kill every 4 rounds or so.

Granted, in practice he may never pull a headshot off; I can think of at least one PC in my games that never rolled a single natural 20 in any serious battle he was ever in, over the course of a campaign that lasted a couple years.

Legally, it can't be done, and would be useless to do in the first place, since vorpal isn't imparted to ammunition.
