THings like this are no longer newsworthy around here.... the river running through portland has signs all over it saying "warning, raw sewage"

"The creature - which has six legs - has stunned a BBC wildlife expert who said it could be an early warning of environmental problems."

Uh...Ya THINK?!

:p

Just random thoughts, since I don't know much at all about amphibian biology.

I seem to recall hearing at one point that frogs are actually more likely to develop mutations because as tadpoles they're still developing, unlike a great many species. Certainly mutagens could be one cause, and probably the most likely given how it basically seems as if three tadpoles merged together - I would imagine something broke down the tadpoles' coverings, whatever they are. Though (and again, educated speculation) I think bacteria can affect tadpoles growing up, and certainly being cut can do that too, since amphibians and reptiles tend to have good regenerative abilities.

And did I read the story right, or did the mutated frog escape? How do you lose something like that?

"Frogs are primitive animals - so the occasional extra toe is not that unusual. But this is very unusual."

Run away! RUN AWAY!!! IT'S A SLAAAAAAD! IT'LL IMPLANT EGGS IN YOU!!!
