Pyramid of Shadows - Arborean Watcher

Obryn

Hero
I just want to make sure I haven't missed anything.

* If nobody is within 3 squares, they can use a minor action to turn invisible. This lasts until the end of their next turn.

* They don't become visible when attacking

So more or less...

(1minor) Turn invisible
(1move) Get next to target
(1standard) Attack

(2standard) Attack
(2move) Move away (skipping OA due to invisibility) more than 3 squares from everyone
(2minor) Turn invisible

Rinse, repeat, turning invisible again in every 1-Round just to extend the duration indefinitely.

So basically they're always invisible and dealing 4d6+5, unless the party spreads out enough to make it tough for them to get 3+ squares away? Or am I missing something?

Relevant bits...

Arborean Watcher - Level 7 Lurker

Melee Basic: Short Sword (standard, at-will) +12 vs AC, 2d6+4 damage

Combat Advantage: +2d6 damage on a hit

Arboreal Veil: (minor, at-will) If no enemy is within 3 squares, the Arborean Watcher gains invisibility until the end of its next turn.

It also has an encounter immobilizing burst, to help it get further from enemies, but that's neither here nor there for the pretty much every round 4d6+4 sneak attack. :) It's also vulnerable to fire, which could be its achilles heel.

You've basically got it - if the party figures out how it works, they can weaken it by shifting away from it, so that it can't attack, move away, and re-invis. But aside from that, or working to surround it, it is definitely effective at remaining unseen. I remember, when I ran PoS, my PCs were frustrated by these guys, but didn't find them insurmountable. They usually finished off everything else, and then focused the full party on them.

I am really looking forward to my group running into these guys. :)
