Quarter Dragon

Hello guys ... I need your opinion on this:
-
Quarter Dragon
Appearance Quarter Dragons look primarily as their secondary heritage
Only their hair or eyes usually match their draconic legacy
Size and Type Change type to Dragon, size is unchanged
Hit Dice Base racial HD increase by one size, max D12
Speed Unchanged, quarter dragons do not have wings
Armor Class Natural Armor class increases by +2
Attack As base creature, quarter dragons do not have claws or fangs
Special Attack Once per day, 3D8 breathe weapon, REF save for half
REF save DC = 10 + 1/2 Level + CON MOD
Special Quality Darkvision 60 feet, Low Light Vision
Immune to Sleep and Paralysis
Resistance 20 to one energy type
Abilities +4 STR and +2 CON, +2 INT or +2 CHA
Level ADJ Base Creature +1
-
I wonder why something like this wasn't in the Players Handbook, Dungeon Master Guide or Monster Manual,
considering that PlaneTouched characters are in there to denote lineages of angels, demons and devils ...
Recommendations and opinions would be gladly accepted ...
BTW, I tried the search option to see if something like this has already been posted, but wasn't able to use it ...

Search: you have to be a community supporter in order to search.

Template: I'd bump the LA to +2. The abilities being unbalanced is worth +1, and the breath weapon, immunities, energy resistance, and +2 natural armor is easily worth another +1.

You think it should be LA +2 because of unbalanced ability scores.
So, if it was LA +1 to choice +2 to two or three: STR, CON, INT, CHR.
Perhaps that would level things out ... what do you think?

If it was LA +2, then change to STR +4, CON +2, INT +2, CHR +2
You're right that the rest does make up for a +1 level adjustment.
---
I know that there's half-dragon creatures, but there's no quarter dragon creatures ... or templates for quarter-racial creatures ...
I think that having things like this would be a good thing, so that this type of monstrous creature could relate and fall into a
standard races group without too much unbalanced factors. Trying to make a character race that only has a +1 or +2 LA.
---
Also, sorry about the block lettering ... how do you insert TABs into the formatting, as multiple spacing doesn't seem to work ...
---
So, lets tweak this thing a little more til its nice and balanced.
Tell me what you think ...

You should really try to balance this thing to be more like an Aasimar. +2 to 2 stats, +2 natural armor, and +15 resistance to one type of energy would be about right. definitely no hit dice modification - the 3.5 half dragon doesn't do that anymore, in fact, nothing does except undead, and that's only because they negate your con completely.

I think +2 con and +2 strength with +2 natural armor, +15 resistance to one energy type, dark vision and low light vision is easily plenty for a +1 level adjustment class.

Alright ... so in order to get Level Adjustment +1 ... we have:
-
Quarter Dragon
Appearance Quarter Dragons look primarily as their secondary heritage
Only their hair or eyes usually match their draconic legacy
Size and Type Change type to Dragon, size is unchanged
Speed Unchanged, quarter dragons do not have wings
Armor Class Natural Armor class increases by +2
Attack As base creature, quarter dragons do not have claws or fangs
Special Attack Once per day, 3D8 breathe weapon, REF save for half
REF save DC = 10 + 1/2 Level + CON MOD
Special Quality Darkvision 60 feet, Low Light Vision
Immune to Sleep and Paralysis
Resistance 15 to one energy type
Abilities +2 to choice of two: STR, CON, INT or CHA
Level ADJ Base Creature +1
-
Now, does that look about right to you guys for Level Adjustment +1?
I know that Half-Dragons exist by the rules, but Draconic lineages (quarter dragons) do not.
BTW, I don't own the Draconomicon book - can you post the stats from there to here?
Thanks in advance ...

Because of the breath weapon, I'd still have to place that at +2 LA in a low level campaign. In a high level campaign where the weapon would be fairly useless, +1 would be ok.
