Well, then watch people actually fighting with two separate weapons and compare.

And it's movies I'm pointing at.

In these wacky martial art movies, people with two actual weapons attack at a greater pace than people with any kind of polearms. They also use both weapons far more liberally. Pay attention to what staff wielder do in these movies ; count the number of time they actually use the bottom part. Not that often.

More importantly :
You can't attack with both end of a quarterstaff at the same time.
You can't block/tie your opponent with one end and hit him with the other simuletenously.

If you can't do that, it's not TWF. In a movie or not.

And a sword fighter will thrust, swing and even strike with the guard. What's your point?

It's still just one weapon.

I'll repeat, because you never adress it :

If you can't attack with both weapons at once, it's not TWF.
If you can't block/bind with one and attack simulteneously with the other, it's not TWF.

Yeah, because D&D has rules to cover blocking and binding. Stop setting up straw men based on stupid crap the rules don't cover. That's why I don't bother to address them. It doesn't matter in D&D, period. Your basis for what is TWF and what isn't DOES NOT MATTER.
