Question about clerics switching gods

Neocelsus

First Post
Ok. I got a cleric in an Arcanis game. In the world of Arcanis the gods don't care about alignment. The thing is I want to switch from one god to another.

I've checked the PHB and the DMG to the best of my ability and haven't found a rule for this.

How do you go about switching gods? And what are the concequences? If possible could you tell me what book it's in and what page? (At the verry least the book. I could find the page I guess.)

Thanks so very much.

I believe it's covered in DotF; it may be in the D&D Rules FAQ.

Basically, you go on a quest for the new deity and only then regain your powers.

That assumes that the new deity will accept you. After all, if you could turn stag on your old deity why should he believe that you will not do it to him too?

The question was about changing deities, so I assumed the new deity would accept the character, or the topic would be called "forsaking a deity".

That's a role-play element adjudicated by the DM, not a rules element at all. CRGreathouse is correct in that you usually take on a quest for your new deity to prove your faith. Other than that, yes, you can switch to any god you wish. Also, remember that Paladins are a special case, for they do not have to choose any particular god, so long as they live the lawful good code of conduct. Basically, as a Paladin, just about any of the gods can support you. I'm referring to 3rd Edition DnD of course. I'm not sure about Arcanis.
