Question about Damage Reduction

First Post
Sorry if this has been answered before, but I do not have access to Searching functions.

I know that Damage Reduction reduces the damage from weapons by a stated amount, but not from spells (i.e. DR 10/+2) will not lower damage from a fireball). But what about non-magical fire?

Lets say a creature has DR 10/+3 and I hit it with a normal weapon. It lowers the damage I do by 10.
What if I had a +1 shocking weapon and did 5 weapon damage and 4 electrical. Does the creature take no damage (DR negates completely), or it still takes the 4 electrical (assuming it has no electrical immunity)?
What if the creature fell into a normal fire and the DM determines that it suffers 8 points of fire damage. Does the DR protect against this?

Thanks,

Magical or nonmagical, energy damage is energy damage.

DR does nto protect against energy damage.

So ... fireball, or torch ... DR won't help you. For either of those, you need Fire Resistance, not DR. :)

The DR will not protect against fire, magical or otherwise, nor will it protect against the electrical damage of the shock weapon.
