Question about Fire Trap

First Post
I just read the discription on fire trap in the 3.5 rules, says that it goes if it is opened by someone other than you or someone you have attuned to it. I have been using it to fire trap glass vials and throw them at people as I understood breaking the vial was like onpening it, but now that I read the spell I dont think that would work. Does fire trapping vials to use in such a way work or not? If it does I have a second question.

Assuming the vial trick does work, I want to tie the vials to some of my arrows so that I can shoot them and I am wondering how to determine if they go off. It says any arrow that hits is destroyed so I assume that means the vial is as well. As for a miss, I would think it a 25% chance as it says a miss means a 50% chance it is lost or destroyed, meaning about a 25% chance of either one happening.

Fire trap doesn't work like that. In my humble opinion, it needs to be a voluntary action on the part of the victim of the spell for it to activate and blast the poor sod. So, no, the arrow trick wouldn't exactly work.

Sorry. Besides, it's much funnier to use explosive runes as mail bombs to your enemies.

"Dear Sir,

You Lose. ['asplosive rune]

Hugs and Kisses,
The PCs."
