Question about firing from a Rope Trick space

By my reading of the spell, someone can shoot a bow from a rope-trick space at people below (he can see through the window), but people could not shoot up at him with nearly as much ease (they can't see the window, nor him -- if they saw exactly where the arrows were coming from, they could do it, though, with a 50% miss chance and probable cover).

Is this correct? Not saying it's a good idea -- the guy below would probably profit from just waiting to the side until the R.Trick wore off, but is it legit?

when I get at least 9th level my sorcerer is taking rope trick so I have a safe and uniterrupted 8hrs sleep for spell recovery.
