Question about rock throwing

reveal

Adventurer
I've got a goliath all worked up that throws rocks. My question is, can these rocks be enchanted down the road? They are considered thrown weapons so would I be able to take a couple and get each one enchanted with the returning ability and anything else?

Well, you'd need a masterwork rock to start from if you want to get them enhanced.

I'm not sure where you find one of those. :)

EDIT:

But otherwise, sure. :)

EDIT2:

Also note that the Returning enhancement is ... problematic ... for more than two rocks.

That's what I was thinking. Would it be too much of a stretch to commission someone to create big, round metal spheres, each the same weight as the rocks I've been throwing, that are masterwork? How much would that cost? The rocks in question are "small objects" and weigh 40 pounds each.

40 pounds each, eh?

At a guess, I'd go with:

1 sp: One pound of iron

40 * .1gp = 4.0gp "base raw materials cost"

Add in, say, another 1gp's worth of expendable raw materials, and you've got a raw materials cost of 5gp. To get something crafted takes 3x the raw materials cost, so each normal iron sphere would run you 15gp.

The masterwork cost for a weapon is 300gp, so each masterwork iron sphere would be 315gp (equivalent in price to a MW longsword, so this seems pretty fair).

Orc shotput from Sword and Fist was 2d6 damage, range increment 10 ft I believe... Something akin to throwing rocks. Make sure you get quickdraw so you can throw multiple 40lb bricks per round.

Right now I have Rock Hurling, which allows me to throw rocks, Brutal Throw, which uses my strength instead of dexterity to throw, and Point Blank Shot (from a flaw) so I can take either Far Shot or Precise Shot next level and the other the level after. Once my BAB goes to +6, I'm definitely taking Quick Draw. :)

Oh, and the range increment from the rocks is 15 feet.
