question about stacking AC bonuses

Does the bonus from a shield stack with Bracers of Armor? Our group was mixed on this topic last night. We know that the shield's armor bonus does stack with regular armor as an exception to the normal "no stacking same name bonuses" rule. Does this exception only work with the physical armor/shield combo? The AC bonus provided by the Bracers is defined as an "armor" bonus, the same as hide armor or full plate.

I'm curious because my character just picked a pair of bracers and a magic shield from our loot pile. I'm wondering if I chose poorly.

Having just a minute ago realized that I could look up the SRD (I'm at work, so no books handy), I answered my own question: no, a shield's armor bonus does not stack with Bracers of Armor. Looks like I'll need to find someone who wants a large shield +1 of blinding...

Wait until 3.5 comes out. Then it will stack, assuming that your group switches over to the new rules.

The way I run things, all bonuses stack. To me, it just makes sense that having two Ring of Protection complement each other instead of one cancelling the other out. I.E. When something gets past one ring's protection field, the other one kicks in. However, I might require a high-LVL feat to allow this.

So... if I'm an 18th level Cleric, I can cast seven Shield of Faith spells for a total of seven +5 Deflection bonuses, or +35 AC?

Do you run any high level PbEMs? I have a character I want to submit...

multiple castings of the same spell don't count.;)

Mage Armor, Bracers of Armor, Full Plate Armor, a shield, and a singlet with Magic Vestment cast on it?

Shield spell, a tower shield, and standing behind a tree?

Is this rule just for Armor Class, or does it apply to, say, bonuses to Strength as well?
