Question about the Winterhaunt PrC

Just looking for other's thoughts on this. . .

Would the feat "Southern Magician" (Races of Faerun, pg 168 "Benefit: Once per day per two spellcaster levels, you can cast a divine spell as an arcane spell, or vice versa.") allow a wizard to meet the divine spellcasting requirement of the Winterhaunt of Iborighu PrC (Frostburn, pg 72 "Spells: Able to cast 1st-level divine spells")?

At first glance I am inclined to say yes.

I'd say yes.

Another question about the Winterhaunt.

Prerequisite for qualifying to become a Winterhaunt is "having crafted an iceheart."

Prerequisite for crafting an iceheart is "being an uldra or a winterhaunt of Iborighu."

So a non-Uldra who is not yet a Winterhaunt cannot create an iceheart. Thus the only way a non-uldra could be a winterhaunt is by having formerly been a winterhaunt, having crafted an iceheart then, then dying and being reincarnated as something else.

It gets even better! If you somehow succeeded in becoming a winterhaunt despite your nonuldraness, and the iceheart is destroyed, you then are an ex-winterhaunt, and you have to craft a new one. But you can't, since you're no longer a winterhaunt!

So the question is: do you think the "creator must be uldra or winterhaunt of Iborighu" requirement should be dropped?

No - you can co-create a winterheart with the help of an existing uldra or winterhaunt. They supply the "is an uldra/winterhaunt" and you supply the XP, spellcasting and craft feat.

Hell - you don't even need to supply anything beyond the spellcasting to qualify.

And the silly "you cease being a winterhaunt" thing doesn't happen - just because you don't currently have a winterheart doesn't mean that you didn't, at some point, craft one.

So - in short: You becom a winterhaunt by helping or being helped to produce a winterheart by an existing member of the cult.

Which really isn't that silly a requirement. Sounds quite like "you participate in a ritual conducted by a high-up".

It's a good interpretation, however one may argue about the "Creator must be" and "must have created" bits. It should have been better worded, if it was the intent. :)

Why don't you stop fighting and make an uldra winterhaunt duh.

Then polymorph into one. You gain creature type while duration up so create it then.

3rd option: become an uldra till you finished crafting it. Savage Species has a ritual to change race. After finished undo ritual.

4th: Candle of Invocation to wish for one (summon an efreeti).
