Question for my fellow slobs: Do you ever leave the house to prep for games?

Occasionally I'll take my laptop to a place that has wi-fi and do some prep there. Sometimes the stimulation of being in a different place helps the creative juices flow.

When I need a change on scenery, I go to the library to do prep for things like stats, encounters and things like that.

For NPC ideas, I go to a busy place like a coffee shop. Sometimes I just draw and take notes on the different people sitting, eating and having conversations. Other times talking to people can help me out with personality types and mannerisms for NPCs (as well as having the chance to meet someone new, of course!).

I know that my living conditions are deplorable, hence why I asked for opinions from others who live similarly cluttered lives. :)

I wish I could keep something clean... But it just ain't in me. Some people can't quit smoking, some people can't stick to a diet... I can't keep things from getting cluttered up.

On the other hand, most of my notes and such are computer files that I store on a Wikipage. I often fiddle with them over lunch at work.

But... I've never come to work for the sole purpose of working on gaming stuff.

Whenever my place gets like that I clean it.

I also clean and straighten before every game session (and after as well).

Same here, but it rarely get's like that.

Nevertheless, I do like to get a change of venue some times. Starbucks are one of my favorite places, they got coffee, wi-fi and usually an open table if you hit the right one, sometimes even good music. Any coffee house would probably do.

Hmm... I got a fiancée... Sadly, she adopted my habits rather than vice versa. :/

Poor guy. Don't worry it will all change once you get kids (trust me enjoy yourself now for when that happens .... aaaaaaaagh!)

Anyway as to OP I like to go for bushwalks and dream up the next scenario to put them through based on what I see and imagine there. Just carry a notebook and a pencil and worry about stats later

As the title implies, this is directed to those among you who, like myself, suffer from untidy house syndrome (or, put differently, are slobs!). I'm not exagerating when I say there's not one clean flat surface in my home that's not covered in assorted detritus which I'm too lazy to put away... Besides, even if I do clear off a table it just gets filled up again in a matter of days, if not hours.
Same here! Below is my desk...

I do most of my prep work at my job at the local library.
