Question for Zulkir

Do you mean 'their own personal top tens' as in they each chose their 10 favorites, and the final 11 were settled on by committee?

Or are you asking how many of the judges chose their own work as one of their top 10? :)

I'm guessing you meant the first one, but just wanted to make sure.

The first. Zulkir mentioned before the winners were chosen that he had chosen his top ten but the final ten had yet to be chosen. It would be interesting to know how many other judges had selected ten of their favorites. In the age of Tough Enough, Road Rules, Real World, American Idol, etc., it would be nice to know how they broke down the entries before picking the winners.

Ugh. American Idol.

200 million people voted on that crap.

The 2000 presidential election garnered around 105 million voters, if I recall correctly.

Totally!!

That's especially telling when everyone remembers how little effort voting for president takes. It's not like you have to register or anything, you can just call in, and if you want your vote to count more, you can just keep calling in!! It's a great system.

Next up the insightful comparison of apples and kazoos....

Two hundred million?

Lessee, there's about 280 million people in the US. If we assume about 20% are minors, that means 89% of American adults participated.

Gah.

I never even saw an episode. Neither did my wife. We should get some special tax break or something.

18 million people watched the final episode. And oh yeah, I'm sure that only 20% of them were minors....

(Talk about a random way to bump the original question, but hey, it works.)

Over course when you remember the details of those numbers it doesn't quite beat out the Presidencial election like you think.

Firstly, 200 million votes (rember votes not people) were cast over the course of the what 4 months of American Idol. The last episode for the final vote gathered 15 million votes.

As others have said it's also much easier to call in and vote as many times as you like for American idol. No so with the President. So while 105 million people decided the presidencial election. I'd be surprised if more than 10 million people decided American Idol.

You can also vote as many times as you wished in American Idol. I'd heard rumors of computers being set up to dial for people's favorites.

But anywho ... remember, keep it political free. ;)
