Question RE: Psionics

32 mage gets 3/3/3/2/2/2/2/1/1 bonus spells.

Which is also pretty close to half the wizard's spells.

Fun other points. Psionic Powers don't have innate scaling (in general) because their 'spell slots' scale.

Also, be aware of the benefit of having all powers being stilled and silent (displays are ... well frustrating and silly, but common sense usually keeps them sane). The ability to wear armor is always nice.

Also note, all elemental damage that psionics creates is fire.
That kinda sucks. Psions highest elemental damage power is either Breath of Fire or Flaming Shroud (both 6th level). Breath of Fire is decent (wish it was in metacreative but hey), Flaming shroud is just the suck. 11d6, target size limit, reflex negates and deals all of 1 dice more of damage than fireball.

Psions 'meta' advantage only really materializes at 20th, when they can manifest an effective 10th level power.

Incorrect on a key point, WRT the sorceror. You see, actually, an 8th level Sorceror absolutely can Extend a third level spell. Extend increases spell level by one; 8th level Sorcerors have just gained access to 4th level spells; with a 20 in his or her Charisma, the Sorceror can in fact cast four fourth-level spells (base of 3/day, plus 1/day form Charisma of 20-21) per day. Or, to compare directly to your Wizard and Cleric example, The Sorceror can extend the same two 3d level spells, just as they can ... and still cast two fourth-level spells, twice as many as they would have left!

And yes, granted, the 8th level Psion with a 20 in their governing attribute will have 45 power points, and can manifest an Extended 3d-level power for 7 PP (5 base, +2PP for Extend); yes, that means he could do so six times.

But those six times would be nearly all he could do for the whole day -- he'd have 3 PP left, plus his few free uses of his 0-level powers.

IMO, that's not enough of a boost to warrant being double-dipped when it comes to power points. A 20 attribute shoudl be JUST as valuable to a Psion, as to a Sorceror, or a Druid, or anyone else.

I will admit error in the number of spells perday for a sorceror (I HAD check before posting  ) but my point is not that the Psion's primary power lays in the number of power points but the flexiblity that it gives him.

Also unlike most other spell casters they have a need to spread out their good ability scores and abilty score improvements because of the way psionic DC's work. Concentrating on one ability score does not help a psion as much as a spell caster does. Improve Charisma for Sorceror and all of her DC's and the number of spells perday improve. A psion will only increase the DC for some of his powers. Because of this that ability score increase should be worth a little bit more and it is, but only with some of the abilty score/level combinations, not all.

I do think that the psion need a slight overall improvement and now use the rules found in If Thoughts Could Kill module avalible from MonteCook.com. With this I think they are close enough to being balanaced that the players' ability will make alot more difference then anything else.
