Question. Where is the template for Awakened/Enhanced animals?

SS lists a pile of anthropomorphic animals. Awaken is only mentioned a couple times in passing, though IIRC its effects are listed in a sidebar too.

ah, yes, the ecls for awakened animals were in the dragon magazine preview article for SS. Don't recall the issue number, but there seemed to be a wide consesus that the writers of it were on crack anyway.

Its from the Epic Level Handbook...basically, its a template that represents that the base creature is the best that it's kind could possibly be, possibly because its the father of the race, or maybe the culmination of it, etc. IIRC, it adds +15 to the CR.

Awaken is a 5th level druid spell in the PHB, Savage Species is a recent hardcover from WotC, Anthropomorphic animals is a template from Savage Species that differs from Awakened animals by making the animal actually human-looking as opposed to simply intelligent and speaking.

Awaken would be Open Game Content when quoted from the SRD. Savage Species is not OGC.
