Questions about AEG's Magic for Mike Mearls

Hey,

I forgot that this was a holiday weekend. I'll get to those answers tomorrow. I worked on Magic five or six months back, so I need to dig up the manuscript and re-read parts of it. Sorry about that!

Yeah, I thought it was missing too, since it is not in the section that references it OR in the index. But it is actually in the Arcana section (last chapter). Can't give you a better reference, no book right now.

Sneaky. It's also not in the feats section of the arcana chapter, which is why I was sure it was missing.

Anyways, here's another one.

The master of the runes feat (page 89) references itself as a prerequisite. What was the prerequisite supposed to be? The other feat, or a class ability?

I'm bumping the thread to remind myself to take care of this ASAP. Sorry, but I've been caught up in work lately.

(Technically, as a game designer, blowing up boats in Bloodwake and frying aliens with a flamethrower in the The Thing count as work.)

On a more serious note, I'm nearing deadline for a big, 90,000 word book for FFG (Dungeoncraft) and need to focus on that, but I'll post at least something useful (rather than lame excuses) tonight.

Some answers from Mike

Mike sent me an email a day or two ago when ENWorld was downish with a few of the answers I was looking for. Perhaps he'll have time to look at the others soon...

New Tinker Spells Errata

These notes cover the spell list on page 107 of MAGIC. New spells not mentioned below are used as listed on 108 - 109. To create this errata, I went through the list of spells on 107 and matched them to new spells on 108 - 109 or created new spells. The list on 107 is in error and was not revised to match the spells given on 108 - 109 or the spell list in the back of the book.

Level 0
* Mend Construct: As listed on p. 108.

Level 1
* Disrupt Construct: As listed on p. 108; this should be a level 2 spell. Alternatively, treat it as a level 1 spell that duplicates ray of
enfeeblement but works only on constructs.
* Imbue With Artificial Intelligence: As listed on p. 108.
* Patch Construct: As listed on p. 108.

Level 2
* Bedazzle Construct: As Tasha's hideous laughter, but applies only to construct. The construct doesn't actually laugh; instead, it freezes in place as the magic that drives it is disrupted.
* Repair Construct: As listed on p. 109.

Level 3
* Charm Construct: As listed on p. 108.
* Restore Construct: Replace with heal construct as listed on p. 108.

Level 4
* Rebuild Construct: As listed on p. 108.

Level 5
* Confuse Construct: As confusion, but applies to constructs only.

Level 6
* Dominate Construct: As listed on p. 108, this should be a level 5 spell.

Level 7
* Construct Growth: As animal growth, but affects constructs only.

Level 8
* Protection from Constructs: Creates a 30 foot emanation that constructs cannot enter.

Level 9
* Dispel Construct: One construct is destroyed, no save.

As for the rest of the spells on 108 to 109, simply insert those into the spell list on 107 at their appropriate level.

Well, if someone else from AEG had the answer, that would be great too.

Don't be shy AEG, the friendly people of EN World only want to talk to you... ;)

Bump! Any progress yet?

Also, I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could post a brief overview of the Tinker class. My LFGS seems to be sold out of "Magic", and I'd love to see a preview before I decide to order it.

Hey guys,

I'll have the final errata done by the end of next week. I've been pretty busy lately, but I have a couple days off coming up that'll give me time to take care of the last bits of it.

Just a BUMP to try an resurrect this thread.

Mike - did you ever get around to finalizing the errata? I couldn't find it anywhere online.

To all you users of AEG's Magic: what's been your experiences with the book, after all these months? I'm particularly interested in the Tinkering rules, but any feedback is welcome...
