D&D 5E Questions about slings

Which is a silly idea really ... I mean, you absolutely can draw blood with a rock. Heck, you can draw blood with a fist.

I guess the idea is more that they can't wield weapons designed to draw blood.
It is indeed silly, and like I said, ahistorical. But, it would give clerics a reason to use slings.

In Tales of the Valiant the sling's Weapon Action is ricochet, meaning you can hit targets even if they're behind total cover if you have a surface you can bounce the projectile off. That alone made me seriously consider playing a sling fighter in TOTV.
The Theros book has a magical "two birds sling" that allows you to ricochet a stone off one target and potentially hit a second.

I'm thinking of 4e where they had something that allowed daggers to deal 1d6 instead of 1d4 damage, like a feat or such. Exploding bullets work as well as magic stones. Allow the PC to sling vials of acid or stones that turn into boulders.

i would increase the range the weapon is accurate at, maybe just from 30/120 to 45/120, it's not huge but it's an edge,

add the thrown property, it gives it the versatility to be a more viable pick for STR focused characters,

on a hit, the target needs to make a CON save (DC=8+STR or DEX respectively) or be Stunned until the start of their next turn.

I'd say re-introduce the staff-sling. Adding another 2-3 feet of moment arm significantly ups the power, so take the damage to d6.

And let the staff act as a cudgel in melee.

I would also say lead bullets should get a boost over stones. They have less air resistance, hit a smaller area and are more consistent. I would either up the range by 10ft, add +1 to hit or +1 damage. (Pick one)
