Questions about Weapons of Legacy

I bought this book last week and imediatelly start reading so i didn´t understand the importance of the rituals to gains the feats least, lesser and greater legacy. The books says that the feats enables you to use some abilities of the weapons but none ability of the weapons is least, lesser or greater... So, why make the ritual?

Had the exact same question when I got the book, asked on here too.

It's not stated... anywhere, but sort of hinted at. Least legacy allows you to use any of the abilities past 5th level... to 11th I think? Lesser legacy lets you use 17 or less, and then I think greater legacy lets you use 17+ abilities.

Check my numbers on that, it'd be under the feats section- listed (for God knows what reason) as the prequrisite for the feat. Essentially, if you don't have the feat, you can't use items past the level listed... it just keeps functioning as it was previously, until you complete the ritual.

Other complaints about the book include wooden storylines that seem like they were written under a deadline, and an idea that really wasn't worth a book...

But that's just my general bitterness. :uhoh:

It's worth noting that investing 3 (!) feats into a Weapon of Legacy is seldom worth it, from a power-gaming point of view. There are a ton of non-legacy magic weapons in the DMG that a plenty powerful without requiring a feat to use. Not to mention artifacts (DMG) or relics (Complete Divine), if your DM allows those in the game.

Those three feats might be slightly more palatable if you're using multiple legacy items. If they apply to all your legacy stuff.

Then again, not only are you choking down the various and sundry penalties associated for having these legacy items, but you've used THREE of your precious, precious feats to do so. Not one, which might be acceptable, but THREE. Ack.

Now, I thought that you typically got those as bonus feats once you completed the associated rituals, but since I do not now nor do I ever intend to possess Weapons of Legacy, I really can't be sure.

You don't need to spend any of your feats. You gain the appropriate feat as a BONUS feat once you perform the ritual and spend the required gp.
