D&D 5E Questions regarding a Noble Bard

It sounds to me like this DM's sole mission is to frustrate and annoy the players for the sake of his/her entertainment. It is doubtful that I would last long at this game table.

Agreed. I also can't help wondering if the DM decided that other races don't respect Elves after he had a player whose character turned out to be second in line for the Elvish throne.
