"Quick Answer" board

Credit for the idea to Delemental, he suggested as a sticky, I'm suggesting a sub-board under the Rules board.

Original idea
Has anyone ever broached the subject of having a "Quick Answers" thread on this messageboard? Maybe a sticky thread here in Rules, where people could ask these really simple questions and get a fast answer. Things like "What page is Rule X on?" and "What's the crit range for weapon Y?"

This would be a no-discussion thread - just questions and answers, restricted to things that could be answered in a short sentence or less. So, would this work?

Just start a thread. ;)

A separate sub forum in Rules might not be the most effective way to do it. And sticky threads don't get as many views as one should think.
So a plain old thread might work best.

I was concerned about how big that thread might grow, as well as allowing people to glance through the board quickly to see unanswered questions.

Yeah. :) It's just that the a sub-forum would probably make matters more difficult for people answering rules questions.

I mean, right now short questions about specific issues are at least half the threads in Rules; having to browse a separate forum for that just doesn't seem very helpful for increasing response time.
It would also mean a further forum to moderate - and making sure that the questions don't turn into debates (assuming we indeed want to prevent that) would require even more moderation. And if we don't insist that the questions not turn into debates, there's even less of a point of not using Rules.

All in all, there's little potential gain by creating a separate forum. I think Rules already works well in this regard.
But if you want these questions to be quickly recognizable, a single quick-answer thread (i.e., as suggested previously) might be worth a try.

Hm. Another thought: If we make more use of the new tags, we don't even need a big 'Q&A' thread. Maybe Morrus can even create a 'quick question' tag for this purpose (assuming he sees a need for such a thing).
