I don't understand why most of the other forums were split off at all. Do people not want to discuss those topics here? If they don't belong in the main forum, is there some reason they all need to be broken down into such low-traffic slivers?

Actually, even though they are low-traffic, I support the smaller forums as a way to organize threads by topic. It's much easier to find threads on plots or whereabouts without having to sift through the morass of the general forum. Some of these threads have lives measured by weeks, so being able to find them quickly is a definite advantage.

It is unfortunate that not many people check them very often, though. Or perhaps the forums are viewed by thousands of people each day, but they're all just too lazy to add their input? Heh, I know I could qualify for that comment. :)

Putting them on the general forum would get them swamped, but I could see combining them into a more general DMing forum.

That's not a bad idea at all. You think Morrus will see this?

BTW, I replied to your Ice Age thread in Whereabouts, so I'm trying to do my part!

Hrm, lets see what's on the front page of general right now...

- Too much magic in DnD - lets do something about it !
- RESIDENT EVIL & DAWN OF THE DEAD d20 "Survival Horror"
- low monster/magic adventures
- 3e Dragonlance Materials

All house rules fodder. No point in having it if people decide to post to general anyways.

I sometimes post or cross-post to General looking for feedback because House Rules can be kind of dead, and I typically want feedback right away (especially as the week's game deadline approaches and I'm hungry to test my latest creation out).

All the traffic is in the General Forum. :(

I think there are way too many forums, most of which don't generate much traffic/posts. On the other hand, I like knowing exactly where to find threads on a certain topic without wading through all the general "noise" and OT posts in General...
