Quick ?: Expertise+Fight Defensively

Whenever I see a player go the whole mad expertise/fight defensively route, I just laugh and disarm their weapon That minus 4-9 just sucks doesn't it.

You the DM? Or how (except metagaming, of course) do you determine that this one dedicated himself to that cause.

(btw: the bladesinger on the example above hasn't even dedicated himself to this course. He found the defending sword and is improving it since, and likes a nice tumble score. and Expertise is prereq for bladesingers. He doesn't use it that often, anyway, as he likes to put some strength behind the blow and use power attack to harm foes with bad protection)

Locked Gauntlet, 10 gp, +10 on opposed check when opponent is trying to disarm you..

Or fighting unarmed....
