Quick Question: Only two players

Ok. If I'm reading right:
- Best combo is a Defender/Melee type with a Leader type.
- Drop or greatly reduce minions
- Drop levels of Solos

I'd be really careful with solos, even lower level ones. Ones that deal a lot of damage due to auras, non-actions vs. attacks, area attacks and whatnot should be fine. Ones that just make a lot of attacks could be trouble and drop a PC really quickly if your dice go hot (since lowering the level is mostly reducing the chance for them to hit, not the damage dealt).

Solos are made to put a beating on 5 PCs. Focusing fire on two could be too much.

Also, I don't see the need to reduce the minion count. Especially if your group has area powers available to them. Shouldn't be any worse than normal if you stick to standard encounter XP limits.

Be careful with monsters that have immobilize, daze, stun or dominate powers (this will happen later in the game). The impact of action denial or domination is bigger on small parties.
I almost always DM for three players and we have seen this effect. With only 2 PCs you'll have to take that into account even more.
