R1: Hired Hands (nimisgod judging)

Valan grimices and sigh "As is the way of luck"

After easly dodging the gnoll's return chop, Valan steps forward, jutting a hand behind the gnoll's defenses grabing him by the fur and kicking his legs out from underneath him*chuckle* "Down, boy"

Knowing that it then becomes easy pickins for his reach friends, Valan moves to whoever seems worse off.

OOC: Round IV: Trip attack[standard action] +3 touch attack, +6 str, resulting free attack +3 unarmed 1d3+2 non leathal(note- quips are only if sucessful), If the trip failed, Valan waits calmly for the end of his tragicly short life, if sucessful he moves to the characther bleeding most heavily

Round 4

Ragnikyr stabs his longspear at the gnoll attacking Kerrz, but the constant movement caused by the ongoing fight causes the blow to pierce nothing but air.

Kerrz steadies himself, growls back at his opponent, and unleashes a vicious attack. This time the blow lands solidly on the gnoll's shoulder, opening an ugly, deep wound.

Valan chuckles, "Down, boy,", at the gnoll facing him and reaches in for a barehanded attack. He executes a beautiful leg sweep, and this time the gnoll's size isn't enough to keep him upright. The beast crashes down on his back with a thud and a grunt. The cleric immediately takes advantage of his downed adversary and unleashes a telling kick to its midsection, eliciting another groan of pain. Valan then moves to the rear of Kerrz, ready to assist his wounded friend.

Now that he's been blooded, the gnoll facing Kerrz lets out a frightful yell/howl before taking a wild swipe with his axe at his injured foe. His rage and bloodlust have an apparently detremental effect on his combat skills as his blow flies harmlessly to the side of Kerrz.

The bow wielding gnoll, seeing his partners starting to falter, launches another urgent shot at Gideon. This time the arrow flies true, burying itself into Gideon's chest. Gideon stares at the black feathers now sprouting out of his breast, unable to do much else.

The last gnoll, lying on the ground, doesn't grasp the immediate danger he's in and tries to climb to his feet. Ragnikyr and Tor immediately take advantage of the opportunity and unleash strikes against him. The bard's spear strike doesn't fair any better against this gnoll than the last, however, and he punctures air again. Tor's chain strike fairs the same, striking the ground where the gnoll was, not where he currently stands. The gnoll stares incredulously at the bard and warrior, not quite believing his luck. He then tightens the grip on his axehandle, steps forward and swings at Ragnikyr. The gnoll's good fortune doesn't carry through, and the blow misses the bard.

Tor, his blood racing with the excitement of combat and danger, unleashes another swing of his chain, this time at the gnoll in front of Kerrz. The chain sails through the air on a true course this time, savaging the gnoll and dropping him to the ground. His blood singing with battlelust, Tor continues the attack to the gnoll facing Ragnikyr. The chain strikes clean again, tearing into the surprised gnoll and leaving him lying in his own blood on the ground.

Feeling reptilian fury well up inside him, Gideon has to fight to keep from charging the gnoll and trying to tear its throat out with his bare hands. Instead, he fires the loaded crossbow at the Gnoll, then stumbles to his knees.

(Ragnikyr looks to have taken down the last gnoll. If it's still standing, Tor will move up to within 5' of it and swing, so that any attempt to escape will provoke an attack of opportunity. However, should the gnoll be down Tor will instead see to his injured companion as follows.)

"Stay down man, you'll be OK as long as you don't move about too much. We need a healer here! Was one of you a healer?"

Momentarilly forgetting his earlier conversation with Valan, Tor worries he was so overconfident that he left town without making adequate preparations for healing.

Round 4 Continued...

Gideon looses his last bolt at the gnoll archer, then collapses to the ground, unconcious. His aim is heavily impaired by his injury, though, and the shot flies wildly into the dark.

ooc: Gideon suffers 1 hp damage for taking a standard action, he's now at -1 hp.

Round 5

Ragnikyr, his opponent no longer a threat, turns to the last attacker. Still inspired by his song, the bard lowers his spear and charges the gnoll. The humanoid archer is paying no attention to that direction, still looking at the newly fallen Gideon. Thus, he has no chance to avoid the attack and the spear lances through him, emerging bloodily from his back. Ragnikyr lowers the point, and the gnoll slides messily off the weapon to lie in a heap in the dirt.

ooc: Combat is over. Valan is at 4 hp, Ragnikyr and Kerrz are at 1 hp, and Gideon is at -1 hp.

[sblock]Ragnikyr attack: 16
Ragnikyr damage: 11[/sblock]

Kerrz looks at his wounds and drops his scimitar and shield. Scrambling around, he watches the blood flow from his chest and side while he moves back to the camp, looking for his longbow incase the last Gnoll decides to make a run for it, and just to keep himself off the front line for a change.

Gideon collapses onto his back, darkness closing over his vision. Later he would attribute it to his near-death delirium, but the blood seeping from his wound felt as though it were molten fire.
