R1: Hired Hands (nimisgod judging)

Gideon's brow furrows and he says, "No ... All I see when I dream about it is fire." He sighs, "I think that I must master it, before it masters me. But it is ... difficult sometimes."

"I can see how that would be troubling. Perhaps when we finish with this current job, you and I could explore this further. My grandfather's ritual seems a more benign thing than what you have been going through, and if you don't know its source it is possible someone if trying to manipulate you by bestowing this power upon you against your will. I wonder, if so, how such a one would react when it becomes clear that you are still your own man whatever mystic essence runs through your blood."

Pausing for a moment, Tor sighs as if coming to an unhappy realization.

"If it's a Dragon that toys with you so, it may be more than we can handle if we oppose his purposes directly."

While Tor and Gideon head back to the site of the attack to search for tracks, Lorne addresses Valan and the others. "Travers owns a ranch a little ways down the road. He raises cattle and sheep and I'm supposed to deliver a load of feed grain to him today. Unfortunately, with my horse missing a shoe I'm probably going to miss the delivery."

Lorne then eyes BusterJack for a second before turning back to Valan, Ragnikyr & Kerrz. "I don't suppose I could impose on you, maybe, to make the delivery for me? If your horse is broke to the wagon, that is. I could pay you. Not in crowns, mind you, but in goods if you've a mind." The farmer looks hopefully at you.

While talking Valan will wander over to the tree line, and look for any lost bolts. Perhaps a missed shot stuck into a tree?

"Also the farmer was asking for us to transport some good a short distance, he would only be able to pay with goods, thought?"

Gideon quietly nods his head at Tor's words. He redoubles his effort to find some trace of the bandits.

Walking back to the other "Find anything?"

"Bah! There is nothing here but dirt!" Gideon frustratedly exclaims. Sighing a bit, he idly picks up a rock and tosses it into the grass.

"Is the destination along our way?"

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure... But just for assurence I'll ask him again" Valan continues poking around the tree's for a moment and moves over to the other side of the road, searching around in the crops "So if it is indeed along our way, no one has a problem?"

Tor doesn't mind helping out the farmer, and a side job usually helps the bottom line.

Tor will help search the area. Anything left behind by the bandits might be an important clue, revealing where they are supplied from.

ooc: With this kind of precision, we must be facing imperial stormtroopers! They only miss like crazy when on camera...

Assuming there is no sign of anything useful Valan will go back and ask the farmer, "Traver's ranch is that way, right?" pointing in the direction of Rivensdale

Tor and Gideon continue their searching while Valan returns to Lorne and the others.

"Ayep, Mr. Travers' spread is about an hour down the road, on the South side. I really appreciate your help." Lorne then begins leading you toward the barn where the loaded wagon sits.

Meanwhile, Tor finally discovers something. In the tall grass on the far side of the road the warrior finds the broken shaft of a crossbow bolt. The ground nearby is too scuffed up to tell much of anything else about what happened in this spot. The shaft is painted black with black fletching. It's not familiar to Tor, but he figures somebody else, possibly in Ravensdale, might recognize it.
