R2: Rats in a Maze [Manzanita judging]

Fimble McGee, Gnome Jockey of Humans who are (Hopefully) Riders of Carriages

Fimble looks outraged from atop his mount (Tor). "A silver? By the Wizard's Staff, sir! This is a matter of utter emergency, a matter of crushing crime in this city and you're extorting government law enforcement?! A cab from one end of the city to the other is a copper, my good man, a copper! As I'm sure you can tell, we're in quite a hurry, so I will pay half of your price. I hope you'll forgive my temper, but really." Fimble mutters to himself as he digs around for five copper, hoping that his little outburst doesn't lose the group their ride.

Babette gives Fimble a sharp look before turning back to the driver. "A most reasonable rate, given the circumstances. Do remember, we are in a hurry. Get us there in time to catch our quarry and I'll double your fare." Babette climbs in the wagon and gives the driver 5 silvers. "The rest upon completion."

Gideon contemplates hurling the man from his wagon and simply taking it, but as Babette has already procured them, he just climbs into the wagon with the rest of his companions.

Tor will likewise climb aboard.

OOC: Splitting the load would be wisest, I think. Don't want to slow down the horses.

Fimble hops off of Tor's back and follows the big man to whichever carriage he chooses to ride. (Probably the one without Gideon).

ooc: I'm assuming Tor & Fimble in one and Metrius, Gideon & Babette in the other.

The group climbs up in the wagons and they head off to the docks. Tor thinks to himself that he could walk faster than the wagons are travelling, but he understands the need to not wear themselves out on the journey.

Several hours later, just when the party wonders how much farther it can be, the wagons come upon a carriage on the side of the road. It appears to have a busted wheel and two men are struggling to replace it.
