R2: Rats in a Maze [Manzanita judging]

Gideon nods his head at Babette, "Agreed. Also, depending on how long ago Drezel left, we might be able to catch up to his carriage before it reaches the docks."

Metrius checks the front door and finds it locked. It's a fancy lock, luckily, with an unlocking switch on the inside handle. "Shall we be off then? Who knows how much of a headstart they have."

The party leaves Drezel's shop and heads north, passing through the narrow streets of this neighborhood to the main thoroughfare that runs through the center of the city. They follow First Street to the Market where they can follow Trader's Way north through the Warehouse District and out to the docks. They have yet to see any place where they can procure transportation.

As they head out of town, still on foot, Gideon spies a pair of wagons leaving the last warehouse on their right.

Babette makes for the wagons when Gideon points them out. "Excuse me, good Sirs! We have desperate need of transportation. We have been hired by the Council," pulling out her identification papers as she continues, "and we have been charged with bringing to justice a couple of ne'er-do-wells who have managed to get ahead of us and are attempting to get to the docks and make good their escape. I know this must seem highly unusual, but we'd be willing to pay well to rent a wagon and its horses. I'd even be willing to leave something behind as collateral, if I have something you'd value. And we only need them for a day or so, I can't imagine we'd return them any later than sometime tomorrow."

ooc: No social skills, but CHA +3 if you feel like rolling dice.

The wagonmaster looks down at Babette and the young sorceress can almost see the gears turning behind his eyes. After eyeing the rest of the group he finally nods at Babette. "Well, I can't very well give up one of my wagons, regardless of the price miss. But seeing as how we're empty and headed to the docks ourselves, I suppose we could give you a ride. For a nominal fee, of course. Say a silver from each of you?"
