R2: Rats in a Maze [Manzanita judging]

Tor looks around at the objects in the storeroom, trying to recall if anything here matches the description of some of the stolen goods.

"Anyone have a preference on which way to go next?"

Gideon readies his shield and takes up position by the door. He puts his free hand on the door handle and waits for everyone to get into position. When they are, he opens the door, draws his silver longsword, and quickly follows Tor into the room.

Gideon opens the door and Tor rushes through, closely followed by his companion. The pair finds themselves standing in the "showroom" of Drezel's shop. Once again there are no light sources, save the sunlight peeking through the drapes covering the front windows. A quick scan reveals nothing moving.

Fimble McGee, Gnome Illusionist

Fimble moves in cautiously behind the warriors. Still whispering, he says, "Isn't there an apartment above the shop? He may be up there. And while we're in here, we might want to see if Drezel has any incriminating documents..." Fimble rolls up his sleeves and waggles his fingers, chanting quietly. His index fingertips glow blue, and he takes both of his hands and strokes each of his closed eyelids once. When he opens his eyes, the blue glow on his finger tips is gone, and his eyes now glow faintly. He scans the room.

OOC: Cast detect magic and look around in the showroom, the basement, and the apartment (if it exists). Fimble is looking mostly for magical traps but he wouldn't mind stealing magical items from a thief.

The group examines the storeroom and the showroom but find both empty of rats or humanoids. Fimble's "enhanced" sight reveals nothing of substance either. Gideon does find what appears to be a receipt for a carriage service. It's dated that day and seems to indicate that Drezel purchased a one-way ride from his shop to the docks north of town for two people plus baggage.

"Let's make sure we've searched the entire place for any evidence of involvement in the theft, and if nothing turns up we can head to the docks and check that out. They may have left town, in which case we may have completed all that we can of this mission."

ooc: If we're chasing our tails here, perhaps we can conclude the adventure with a brief narative of what happens?
