R2: Rats in a Maze [Manzanita judging]

"It's true, silver makes for a pretty bad weapon, but if it can hurt them, then maybe just carrying one around might help, or might make them think twice about attacking some of our ... smaller fellows. It should probably be something small and easy to use though, like a dagger. It can't hurt to check the market tomorrow before we head underground."

"We can check the price of wolfsbane while we're there, too. I might get some extra sunrods and other things for our trip underground."

[sblock=possible shopping list, suggestions welcome]wolfsbane, sunrods, anti-toxin, perfume, tanglefoot bags[/sblock]

ooc: With the guards showing up and everything, I suppose we didn't have an opportunity to loot our attackers, right? Tor would like to get some decent armor at some point, that's most of his shopping list right there.

ooc: actually, I did grab their weapons, so I think we have several crossbows. :)

ooc2: If it would help, I can cast Mage Armor on whomever wants it.

Fimble McGee, Gnome Illusionist

Fimble nods. "Silvering a weapon is not terribly expensive. There's an alchemical process I know of that can be done, I fiddled around with it in the laboratory at home when I was learning, but I'm not sure I could do it myself. I'd like to see if my dagger can be silvered. I barely use it anyway, and it will be worth it if the need arises." The gnome reaches into his bag and pulls out a rather large book. He plops it on the table and flips through it. Its pages are filled with arcane formulae, and those who know the language recognize the text as draconic. Fimbus pauses every now and then and points out a useful spell he might prepare for tomorrow.
[sblock=OOC: ]New prepared spell list:
Prepared: (3+1/2+1) (Bonus illusion spell) *Gnome ability
0: Light, Mage Hand, Detect Magic, (Ghost Sound), *Prestidigitation, *Ghost Sound, *Dancing Lights
1: Magic Weapon, Charm Person, (Color Spray)

OOC: Not sure if his own dagger can be silvered in a morning, but a silver dagger costs only 24gp. So at least he could sell his current one for 2gp and get a new one, spending 22gp. If anybody has any suggestions for spells (Fimble's only L1, mind you) go right ahead and suggest it.[/sblock]

ooc: Nope, no looting was done. The weapons were collected but were confiscated by the guards at the council with the prisoners. Their armor was only studded leather anyway. The weapons, however... ;)

ooc: Well...poo! :p Out of curiosity, were these guys armed with anything besides the crossbows?

OOC: I'm going to be gone all week next week, so Dungannon can feel free to NPC Gideon. I'll still be hanging around here until about 5 PM today, but after that I won't see you folks until the 6th of November.

ooc: Yes, they each had a melee weapon, either a rapier or a shortsword, except for one who had a mace.

ooc: I don't see any clearly stated action in the last bit, which must be confusing for the DM. Tor isn't going to buy anything, and is ready for the meeting. He'll be sitting at a table practicing cantrips... he can't actually cast cantrips, but he can feel the draconic abilities bubbling up in his system, and wants to bring them out. Mostly though, the attempt will provide enough of a distraction to Tor so that he won't be tempted to look over at what the others are doing.
