R2: Rats in a Maze [Manzanita judging]

Fimble McGee, Gnome Illusionist

Fimble has Craft (alchemy) +7 and Knowledge (arcana) +7. The first might give him a general knowledge of herbs and such, like wolfsbane.

Metrius shakes his head. "I think it was a rat," Metrius says, "But I didn't get a very good look at it."

"Whether it's wererats or otherwise, I think we still need to speak with Drezel in the morning; and to question the attackers that are with the council. I still think the sewers lead may well be a coincidence. And Dak and Otto... they're a mystery. But I don't think there's much need to pay them much heed; whether they can be taken at face value or not I don't think it changes much; I'd just be careful what we say around them."

"For tomorrow,"
he continues, "I don't mind speaking to Drezel, or the prisoners. I think we need to have a chat with both. And you might be right, it might be Drezel that set them on us. He worked fast if he did though."

"Now that we've got them stirred up to the point that they're ambushing us, we should be especially certain to stick together from here on out."

"We should probably stick together, but it seems like we need to divide our group for at least some of tomorrow. I'll go with Fimble to Drezel's, as he's seen me before. It's possible that he doesn't know how many of us there are, so we might want to keep it that way. We should bring at least one more of our group though. I suspect that visiting Drezel's may be more dangerous than visiting the Council House."

Fimble nods at Tor's warning. "True, true. But Drezel only knows three of us. Metrius, Gideon, and myself. I don't want to scare him off. I'm thinking we should stay together, but appear apart, if you know what I mean. That may lure some more bandits out of the hideout, actually. Drezel will be expecting us three, but Tor and Babbette could come along to the meeting and grab a table across the room from us, you know, keep an eye out for suspicious behavior. Then we'll all return to the Council house, still concealing the fact that we're together just in case Drezel is watching. How does that sound?"

Metrius considers the groups comments. "Yes, sticking together is definately a good idea. Well Drezel is supposed to be showing up here tomorrow, right? Might be worth having you," he indicates Tor and Babette, "on hand in the inn, or within shouting distance anyway, in case things turn sour. Fimble's plan sounds good to me."

Evening comes on as the companions sit in the dining room of the Wishing Well and discuss tomorrow's agenda. As the discussion moves toward Tor's thesis that wererats are involved, and what little they know about lycanthropes, Babette sits deep in thought.

"I remember my mentor talking about lycanthropy once, some discourse on magical afflictions. Wolfsbane, I believe, is used as a cure for it, although it rarely works. And I remember him saying something about silver, but I'm not sure in what context."

ooc: Drezel did say he would come to the Wishing Well. Any other plans before retiring for the night? I'm enjoying seeing you guys talk out the situation and review your informaion. :)

"I agree with Metrius. If Drezel's going to meet you in a public place, we can be present in the area without being part of the meeting. Then we're all together in case of an ambush. Maybe we should get some wolfsbane, just in case... I don't want to turn into a rat during the full moon, and even a small chance to avoid that seems worthwhile."

"Should we invest in silvered weapons? I've heard that werewolves and the like are rather resilient unless silver weapons are used against them."

OOC: I don't know if that's common knowledge in game, but it certainly is in the modern world, so I'll assume it's common enough.

"Silvered weapons are expensive, and silver's too soft to make a really good weapon out of anyway. I think I'll just stick with hitting really hard with my normal weapon."
