R2: Rats in a Maze [Manzanita judging]

Fimble McGee, Gnome Illusionist

Fimble scrambles to draw his new silvered dagger. He knows his abilities with swords and such are severely lacking, but he has to do something, and his crossbow is just as likely to hit his friends as it is the spiders. So he waves his dagger around from behind Metrius, poking and jabbing (1d20-1=17) at the spider (S1), hoping his efforts will give Metrius a slight edge.[sblock=OOC: ]Aid another: Attack vs. DC10, +2 to friend's attack or AC. Depending on Metrius' intended action (eg escape from the web OR ignore it and attack the spiders) Fimble will do one or the other. His damage with the silvered dagger is 1d3-3, so... this is the most effective use of his melee skill, I think.[/sblock]

If Tor can manage to get into stabbing range of another spider, he will strike once more with his scimitar. If this is impossible due to the crowded conditions, he will move as close as he can to an active enemy while full defending.

"Get behind me, friends, and mind that venom!"

ooc: Gotcha Fimble, I missed that. And it's Gideon's action. The only spiders left are those attacking Metrius.

OOC: I posted earlier that Gideon is going to attempt to free himself from the webs. He'll use his sword to try and help, if possible.

Gideon, free from the distraction of the spiders, twists & turns & scrapes his way out of the clinging webs.

Tor calls for his companions to take refuge behind his sturdy frame and sharp blade.

Metrius finally manages to free himself from his webbing while Fimble does his best to keep the remaining spiders at bay.

End round 2, begin round 3

The last spider in the hallway lunges forward and tries to take another bite out of Metrius but fails once more to find an opening.

ooc: Babette's turn

Babette squeezes past the fighters, allowing them access to the rear of the party.

ooc: Start leapfrogging positions with Gideon and Tor. I guess I need to delay my move to do that.

ooc: I can just move through friendly squares, right? I'll move ahead of Tor and watch the front while he and Gideon move back.

Babette begins moving behind Tor and Gideon, putting them between herself and the remaining spiders.

The spider in the wall tries to throw another web at Metrius but it falls just wide, thanks to Fimble's distraction with the dagger.

ooc: Yeah, you can move through friendly squares without penalty. Fimble, it's your action again. :)

Fimble yelps as the sticky web zips by his face. He's glad he could help Metrius, but he's ready to let the big dogs do some real work. He backs up, keeping to the wall as he moves, to let Tor and Gideon through.

ooc: Tor & Gideon, there's only room for one of you to move up next to Metrius and attack the spider in the alcove. Since you both have the same initiative, let me know which one of you is moving up to attack.

ooc: Technically, the 3.x initiative rules don't allow for ties. I believe (but am not certain) that Tor's initiative should be just prior to Gideons. If it's easier to just roll it off, Tor will take low numbers (1 to 3 on 1d6 for example.)
