ooc: anyone know where Patlin's been?

I'm going to be travelling over the next few weeks, starting Friday. I expect to have internet access via my phone for most of the travelling, but in case I'm wrong and I vanish from the boards, this is why.

OOC: Last Friday was the Friday in question, so I think he's on the road for the time being.

(Still on the road but now in range of the internet.)

Tor is wary of webs and other traps, and so does not rush forward.

"Ready. Same plan?" he says to Gideon in a low voice. He readies an action to step forward and strike, swapping places with Gideon, when Gideon steps back.

Tor readies his sword and prepares to swap places with Gideon after the young man makes his own attack. He apparently doesn't see the small spider in the opening to his right but he becomes immediately aware of it when a web comes shooting out at him. Fortunately for Tor the spider's aim is off and it flies in front of the warrior.

The spider behind Metrius scurries forward a bit and throws its own web at the cleric, this one fairing much better. Metrius finds himself entangled in the sticky strands.

Fimble McGee, Gnome Illusionist

Fimble jumps as Metrius crumbles behind him, covered in spidery goo. He scrambles to help his companion, clearing (1d20+3=22) away as much web as he can to help free Metrius.

OOC: Assuming the skill is a dexterity based skill (Escape Artist?), and assuming DM is allowing 'assist another' checks on escaping the webs.

Babette eyes the spider to her left and lunges with her dagger. She's rewarded with the feeling of the blade sinking deep into the vermin's body, but it appears to be still alive.

The spider in front of Gideon throws a web at the young man, ensnaring him in a tangled mass of gooey string.

Another spider crawls out of an opening next to Metrius, baring its fangs at its intended prey. Fortunately for the cleric it can't seem to find a clear opening through the webs and is forced to snap its mandible in seeming frustration.

Fimble steps up to his trapped companion and tries to help him out of the webbing.

The spider that Babette stabbed spins its web out at the sorceress but the wound appears to have affected it as it barely misses the young woman.

The other spider in front of Gideon eagerly scampers past its brethren to attack the incapacitated warrior. Gideon grimaces in pain as it sinks its fangs into his leg.

ooc: Gideon and Metrius are entangled (-2 to attack, -4 to Dex, half speed, no running or charging). Gideon, make a Fort save and then you can take your action. You can try to break the webbing with a Strength check or untangle yourself with an Escape Artist check.

Spider #6 web attack on Gideon = 15.
Spider #1 bite attack on Fimble = 5.
Spider #2 web attack on Babette = 10.
Spider #4 bite attack on Gideon = 18, damage = 0.

ooc: How big are the spiders? Halfling sized? And are the flames from Gideon's torch having any effect on the web holding him?

Tor will stab a spider if he can reach one. If he cannot, he will sheath the scimitar and bring out his longbow.

(Of course, Gideon might still attack and step back before Tor's next action, in which case his readied action would be triggered.)

ooc: The spiders are Small-sized, so yeah, roughly gnome/halfling size. Right now the flame from the torch isn't doing anything because the webs aren't actually touching it. Gideon could always try to use the torch to burn his way out, though. And there's a spider right next to you, on your right, easily within sword range.
