R2: Rats in a Maze [Manzanita judging]

"Webs. Probably spiders, whether big or small. We could light them on fire, or I could shoot an arrow into them and see what responds. Anyone have fire or antitoxin?"

ooc: are you going to try and light the webs here, or further down where they start to get bigger?

Here, and continue to do so as we move on. I don't want to be surprised by little (but highly poisonous) spiders either, and spiders are less subtle when they are abandoning a web that's on fire.

Gideon lights a torch and begins using it to burn and knock down the webs near his head. Tor stands ready behind him, sunrod in one hand, scimitar in the other. The rest of the group keeps their eyes open for any sign of the eight-legged freaks who made the webs.

After another minute of travel (a bit slower due to Gideon's fastidiousness in destroying the webs) you come upon an interesting find. Several rats lay dead in your path, includine one of the giant-sized ones you faced earlier. They are covered in webbing and appear quite desicated.

Tor looks over the big rat wrapped in webbing.

"These spiders are going to be big."

He's obviously displeased with this, but refrains from cursing.

"They're bound to attack us any moment now. Be alert."

Clearly the rats don't travel through here, but we'll stick to our search pattern anyway. The city'll probably be better off without giant spiders underneath it anyway.

"Maybe we should go back. I don't think these are the rats we're looking for."

Babette will sheathe her dagger, and draw and load her crossbow.

ooc: for some reason I didn't read Patlin's ooc comments 'til after I posted.

Babette swaps her silver dagger for her normal one, and casts Mage Armor on herself.

Fimble sees the others preparing for combat and shivers. "I eh... I'll just stay back here and... and let you guys do the poking. Illusions don't really work on mindless insects, you know."
