Each Genasi has identical skill and stat bonuses, and the same feat availability?

They all have the same Stat Bonus (Str/Int)

When you select a Genasi you pick an elemental manifestation that determines most of your racial abilities. You can take any Genasi racial feats, though some specify that you must have certain manifestations. There is a Genasi racial feat that lets you pick another manifestation, and swap between elements. There are later versions of this feat and paragon paths all dedicated to letting you shift between or use multiple elements. Just because you start as an Earth genasi doesn't mean you will always be an earth genasi, you can take feats to sometimes be a lightning or fire genasi.

Ah, alright. That does clarify it then. I had been under the impression it was a shifter-like Either/Or choice, obviously. Thanks for explaining.

yeah, my Genasi in my sig is going Elemental Tempest. He's all about multiple elemental manifestations. And as OP, maybe I can swwwaaaay some votes away from kicking them off?

I see what you mean, tho, but since there wasn't a differentiation between Revenants based on their trees, I opted not to do that for Genasi.

I thought humans were the strongest core race in 3e. A free feat was awesome!

But the lack of a stat boost was killer - if your class favored high stats, such as any spellcaster with spells with saves. And some other races (like dwarves) had some fairly ueber a-feat-couldn't-buy-it extra bonuses like darkvision and a +2 to saves.

I'd say humans were pretty mediocre in 3e, all in all ;-).

The list this turn:

Bugbears
Dragonborn
Duergar
Kalashtar
Kenku
Warforged

Ok, I can't personally back the ousting of Kalashtar and Dragonborn. Racial abilities are just too cool to get rid of them. Oh well, apparently at-will telepathy isn't good enough!

I proclaim this thread and vote closed! (I didn't set a time limit for the poll. oh well, live and learn)

and humans in 3e could buy magic items or spells that give darkvision, or any of the other abilities of another race. No bonuses, sure, but no penalties either.

Dwarves were over-powered, though. Half-elves were way underpowered to compensate, but oh well.

I think it's a real shame warforged are gone - sentient golems ftw!
Kenku too - kinda funny.

As to the rest; well, the flavor's just meh. What's so great about Kalashtar? Mind you, they don't bother me, but they don't strike me as particularly intriguing, either.

I'm kind of sad to see dragonborn and warforged go before some of the monster races, but there is enough antipathy for them that they probably wouldn't make it to the final cuts anyway. Based on the number of Dragonborn I see played, I'd say they are very popular and well-liked, but this is more of an anti-popularity contest, so I suppose they rub enough people the wrong way to get them kicked out.

I think you are quite correct in your assumptions. The Dragonborn rubs me the wrong way. Reminds me of the half-dragon template from 3.x. It smells of cheese and with only the PHB they were the only race with +2 str - except humans. Who wants to play a human? Not me. I houseruled the half-elf and Tiefling to be able to get the +2 to str for a while. ;)

Hm, the smell of cheese does not appeal, but I've always been fond of half-dragons and dragonborn. I was rather pleased when I saw them implemented as 'core' in 4th edition, as it would make them more frequently playable.
