As of this posting, Eladrin have less votes than elves and halflings. I *cannot* express how happy this makes me.

Out of the 4 left, the only one IMO with any flavor or interesting mechanic is the Eladrin. Back to LOTR with the rest of you!

Eladrins have no flavor. They can teleport and that's cool, but it's also *lame, bad, wrong* (insert adjective). WotC should have never introduced a PC race that could teleport at level one (not just because they can avoid OAs and some of the other movement rules, but because they can reach places that cannot be reached, even with Climb; it's similar to what Invisibility is to Hiding, overriding a skill with a racial power).

But flavor? They have the same basic flavor as Elves. Nimble, skinny Fey dudes. Meh. ;)

I vote Dwarf as I've ever seen played or read of is basically the same character.

Plus, one of my players always plays dwarf, and seems to think that being mindnumbly pigheaded is roleplaying. In the "1) my opinion is always right; 2) if it isn't, see #1" kind of way.

Which is why I'm going to mind**** his character something serious in my campaign. That said, I want to do that to all my PCs, I just feel particular satisfaction with his.

The only problem with Eladrin having teleportation is if the whole party is Eladrin. If there is only one, or two, it creates a lot of exciting combat situtations. Yes, the Eladrin can go behind the lines, or through gates etc, but he can also do this only once, and the others can't follow. This means he puts himself into a dangerous position. It makes combat more fun. Hail the Eladrin.

elves lack flavour. this is why there's sun elves, moon elves, star elves, sea elves, dark elves, wood elves, high elves, etcetera. this is why elves must go.
