Races & Classes by the Numbers

Just got this book. The female dwarves with their big, flowing hair and chubby bare midriffs cause a strange stirring in my loins.

By the numbers:

# of times the designers use the word "cool" instead of a more thoughtful, evokative term: 413,253

# of times the designers use the term "badwrongfun": 0

# of times the designers *imply* that 3.5 contains badwrongfun: 352,112

# of reptilian, egg-laying humanoid females with breasts: 1

Any others?

I know this is an attempt at humor (that also clearly shows your position on 4E,) but I'm pretty sure there aren't even that many total words in the book. The over-exaggeration weakens the humor.

For what that's worth.

Actually, I'm excited about 4e, but that doesn't mean I don't find it irritating when the designers keep saying "cool" like they were twelve years old or something.

The "over-exaggeration" is called hyperbole.

I agree, the new Dwarven females are very earthy-tastic. They remind me of Stone Age fertility goddess figurines.

You know, platypus lay eggs I believe and yet they are mammals and by definition have breasts.

Also, I believe the redesigned green dragon will have nipples, though nothing resembling breasts per se.

If I've said it once, I've said it a million times, not every over-exaggeration is entitled to be called a hyperbole!

I think the rampant use of "cool" is more of a thing with our generation. (By 'our,' I mean me (I'm 35,) you (almost 37--early HB BTW!,) and most of the 4E design team.) I say 'cool' more times in a day than my father has said in his whole life (another hyperbole?) And I'm a well-educated professional that earns over $100k a year. So when the designers write 'cool!,' I can relate. Now, when Bruce Cordell stated that 4E FR art was going to be 'sick,' then I knew he was trying too hard and talking to a younger generation than ours. But who knows, maybe he's trippin' off the chain!

'Cool' is one of those rare words, like 'smurf' or the f-bomb, that is almost unlimited in its uses.
