Races of Faerun and Arms and Equipment Guide are out!

My local store won't be selling them until tomorrow night either but I had a gift cert so I pre-ordered this batch from Amazon.com with the overnight shipping. They have always been good with their shipping. I almost always get stuff in the shortest possible time which is great for when I have a really busy week and can't get to the gaming store before it closes. :)

EDIT: Let's do the mods a favor (oh heck, and me too) and not bring up the downloading books thing again. It would be great to have this thread focus on the titles, not a debate that has been beaten to death...

I thought both books were good, content wise (read them both pretty thoroughly last night at the game shop), though both suffered from generally poor art throughout (not counting WAR's art in A&EG, mind you).

Races of Faerun is the better of the two, IMO, plus its loaded with tons of new feats. Races of Faerun is a very cool and much thicker book, on the other hand. I recommend it even to those who don't run the Realms as so much of it is useful in any setting.

What makes me not want to buy Arms & Equipment Guide is that it's $26.95 and no interior color! That makes this book more expensive and less "deluxe" than Bastion's Arms & Armor which I already gladly own (though the new WoTC book has better art by comparison to Bastion's A&A). It also repeats all the weapons from the splatbooks and most of the equipment/vehicles from Dragon and the splatbooks, which is good to have them all in one place, but not when it takes away from the page count for new material. The book is the thinnest hardcover I've seen in a long time! Arms & Equipment Guide is still good, but is a bit of a rip-off for $26.95, especially if you already have the splatbooks and Dragon issues. It was nice to see old favorites updated for 3e like the weapon "Whelm" from 1e's WHITE PLUME MOUNTAIN in A&EG, though. Ah, nostalgia! ;)

A&EG is overpriced, but I bought it anyway. I got suckered by all the vehicle stuff which I haven't seen before, and some of the magic items and shtuff.

I'm pretty happy with it. Races of Faerun? What's Faerun? Never mind, joke.
